Judy Climer, Director of Flint Right to Life account:
Judy Climer, Director of Flint Right to Life received a call from a contact in CA that a mother in MI who is 17 weeks pregnant was scheduled for an abortion at PP in Ann Arbor on Sat. morning, Feb. 20th.
Climer started calling CPCs in the Ann Arbor area to try to find an ultrasound machine and to put together a team of prayer warriors. She, also, put out a request on FB for people in that area who could pray, and she was connected to the leader of the 40 Days For Life efforts in that area.
Then Climer began a mission to talk to this mother and point her to help to save her baby. She called her and left messages on her answering machine because this mother refused to talk to anyone.
The day before she was to abort, Climer began texting this mother with the truth about abortion, the risks, the truth about PP - that they wanted her baby to sell the little body parts, and that she could never look at her other children (siblings of the baby about to be aborted) the same way as they would forever remind her of the child she aborted. Climer texted web sites to her to verify everything she told her. No response.
(Meanwhile, the 40 Days For Life prayer warriors had been notified and were praying)
Later in the day while traveling, Climer received a text from this mother - that she had read all of the texts, researched all of the web sites, but had no choice as she could not financially make it as a single mom with a new baby. Climer pulled over into a gas station so she could focus on the conversation with this mother. The back and forth communication lasted an hour as a solution was offered for every excuse she had for aborting.
When the texting ended, she agreed to think about it though she had less than 24 hours before she would head to PP where she would be put to sleep for a high risk abortion that would cost $1,000.
We continued to pray and prayer warriors prepared for the sidewalk to greet her with signs that had her name on them letting her know she was loved and they would help her and even adopt her baby.
At 3:00 am Sat. morning, four hours before the trip to PP, she texted Climer that she had decided to keep her baby and would be calling PP in the morning to cancel the abortion. PTL. Her sister-in-law went to the clinic to join the sidewalk counselors to pray and confirm that she canceled her appointment. She did!
Prayer saved that baby and this woman will be blessed for doing the right thing. Thank you to Sandie for her leadership in the 40 Days for Life prayer time; it works.
Karalee Robison, from Family Life Services reaching out to 40 DFL Ann Arbor on Wed. Feb. 17th via email:
I am reaching out to you because you are all the individuals involved in 40 days for life whom I have email addresses for. Over the past two days I have been in contact with someone at The Bible Church (of Ypsilanti) who has an out of town friend who's daughter lives in a neighboring county.
Anyhow, the daughter is scheduled to have an abortion at the Ann Arbor Planned Parenthood this Saturday. She is very abortion determined, but obviously the mom and her friend are trying to do everything they can to keep her from going through with this and regretting it. They were wondering if anyone from our center stood outside PP, and I informed her of the 40 days for life campaign that is currently going on. Will there be people outside of PP this upcoming Saturday AM?
She also gave me a description of the daughter.(which Sandie removed from this account in order to protect the privacy of the pregnant woman.)
We are obviously lifting up prayers for this young woman at our center and hoping that she calls as she has been given our number by her mother. I wanted to pass along the message to all of you as I know you will do the same, and perhaps keep a special eye out for her on Saturday morning if possible. Thank you, Karalee Robison, FLS
Sandie Weathers, 40 DFL Ann Arbor campaign director recalls:
Upon receiving Karalee's email, I ask a small group of 40 DFL prayer volunteers to start praying for the pregnant mother, and to help me put a plan in motion for Saturday. I contacted Judy with RTL Flint to get the correct spelling of the mom's name, as one of the volunteers offered to make signs with the mom's name on them, I also got a full description of TLC, so that I could alert the Thursday and Friday prayer volunteers to be on look out for her, in case the Saturday appointment was changed, as Thursday and Friday are both abortion days. Extra prayer volunteers were recruited for Saturday morning and were given the description of our mom, the color and type of car she would most likely be in and that her driver would be a woman. I did not know that the appointment was set for 8:00 am, just that it was set for Saturday morning. While contacting a new volunteer by phone about praying at Planned Parenthood, she told me that she worked for The Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist. As soon as she got off the phone with me, she would ask The Sisters to start praying. We got out extra signs, which read, "I am praying for you and your baby. It is not too late to change your mind." I recalled having a hand made baby blanket at my house, that another prayer volunteer had made to be given to a mom that had a change of heart. Just before I left the vigil site at 8:00 am on Saturday, I placed the baby blanket on our resource tub, near where many of our prayer volunteers stand to pray, praying that a volunteer would have the opportunity to present the blanket to TLC. We were determined that when TLC drove down Professional Drive last Saturday morning, February 20th, that she would know that she was loved.
Ann, 40 DFL prayer volunteer shared:
Julia and I were scheduled for the prayer vigil from 11:00 a.m. to Noon (today, Saturday Feb. 20). About half-way through our vigil, a car stopped to ask if we were members of the prayer team. In introducing ourselves we found out we were talking with the sister-in-law of the young woman scheduled to have an abortion this morning at Planned Parenthood in Ann Arbor. She said her sister-in-law decided during the night she was not going to have the abortion today, which relieved her, her husband and her mother-in-law greatly. TLC's sister-in-law indicated she has offered to have her sister-in-law and her other small children stay with her and her husband (the young woman's brother) while she makes decisions going forward. Julia and I told the sister-in-law about the 40 Days for Life website and she still had the number of the person she talked to who counseled her about our campaign. We gave the sister-in-law some of the pamphlets for ArborWoman and suggested if this location was not ideal the staff in Ann Arbor could probably advise her of groups in the Ypsilanti area. We told the sister-in-law, we, and all the 40-Day prayer teams, would continue to pray for her sister-in-law and their family, that they will be guided to the people who will be most beneficial for them at this time.
Unfortunately the Ann Arbor Planned Parenthood was very busy this morning, but at least one young life was spared today . . . hopefully more.
The thanks need to go to TLC's sister-in-law, TLC's Mom and TLC's brother for their dedication this past week to help TLC see her situation in a different light. And most of all to God, for hearing our prayers and showering His mercy on this family. God bless you Sandie for all you do to make all of us aware when "power" prayers are needed for special Moms of special babies. God's Peace and Blessings, Ann
Julia, 40 DFL prayer volunteer shares:
Subject: A New Prayer Warrior
I don't know if anyone else told you, but today when Ann and I were out on Professional Drive, we had the pleasure of meeting the sister-in-law of TLC, who I know many of us have been praying for.
She told us that she had been up talking with TLC all night and that she was not sure she had been able to convince her to keep her unborn baby, but that she had offered for TLC and her other small children to come and stay with her and her family as long as she needed. (What a generous woman!)
She drove out from another neighboring county today to meet the 40 Days for Life team and ask if we had seen any signs of her sister-in-law, whose appointment was scheduled for 8am. After telling her we hadn't seen her, she called TLC who confirmed that she had decided not to come to the abortion clinic. Praise God!
The sister-in-law told us that her mother-in-law (TLC's mom) had been in touch with the leader of Right to Life Flint, who she thinks is named Judy. She said they had been given multiple resources for free pregnancy crisis centers in the area where TLC lives, but she also took some information on ArborWoman from us and we talked to her a bit about finding other resources for the father of TLC's children.
The sister-in-law also told us a bit of her own story. She has two kids of her own and her husband is in the service and will be deploying again soon. She grew up being pro-choice, but after having her own children, her heart was changed. She said that once she was made aware that TLC was considering an abortion, God put it on her heart to not only fight for the life of her unborn niece or nephew, but to keep fighting and praying for an end to all abortion. She asked a lot about 40 Days for Life and why and how we counsel women facing crisis pregnancies. I know she will be a wonderful prayer warrior for the preborn no matter where her husband's career takes her.
We were able to give the sister-in-law a beautiful new blanket that someone had brought for TLC had she shown up, which she took and said she would pass along, as well as all of our love and prayers for TLC and her baby. It was so touching to know that in the midst of all those cars in the parking lot today, there was a woman at home who had beaten the culture of death and decided to save her child's life.
I hope this finds you well and fills you with as much hope as it did me. :)
God Bless, Julia
